Halfway Down the Rabbit Hole

Leftenant Commander, Personal Log Stardate....blah..

Well, it's been exactly a month (four weeks to the day) since my last post. Let's take a look at the updates.

Most recently, I went to see the Hostage, starring Bruce Willis. For those who haven't heard about it it is the movie where a negotiator's family is taken hostage in order to manipulate the outcome of a hostage situation.
While it is a good action movie, it seems to pale in comparison to the upcoming Star Wars movie. As most people know, the new Star Wars Episode Three movie will be opening this summer (May 2005 i think) in theatres. Already there have been two tv trailers (one teaser and one normal length trailer) promoting it; but they are not shown regularly. Rather, they are shown at set times that movie fans will, depending on how interested they are in the movie, make a concerted effort to see it. The most recent one was advertised as being shown during last week's episode of the O.C. All throughout the show it didn't show during the commercials; it was only after the show was over and the next one was about to start that the trailer was shown.
One star wars fan site even had a detailed analysis of what happened in the trailer, including a complete script of every line along with the action sequences as well as a rather precise time log of when everything in the trailer appeared.

Having only seen one of the two released trailers I've decided that the movie is worth seeing in theatres but not until at least a few weeks later. By then, hopefully, the crowds will not be as high; the first week is likely to attract the fanatics who will be wearing the costumes. I've seen people wearing costumes for movies like Lord of the Rings and Star Wars.

I watched the whole OC just to see that trailer, and I HATE that show! It was 9pm and the next show was about to start, so I figured that we weren't going to see the commercial because we are in Canada. When I got back from the kitchen, it was just saying "In theatres May 19th". It said it was going to be DURING the show!
